These frequencies do not require the use of a radio detection transmitter. They rely on signals already present on buried metal utilities.

Power:
Power cables and some utilities radiate a signal.

Radio:
Some utilities radiate ambient radio signals.



Flexi Trace & Sondes

Transmitting sondes combined with flexi trace enable receivers to trace non metallic sewers, drains, ducts or pipes and to locate blockages or collapses. Pathfinder Services use these tools to provide a clay tile & Novaflo drainage location and mapping service.

Active frequencies provide a stable locate and good depth readings. The frequencies also travel greater distances and can help to identify individual lines. There are three main methods of applying an active signal with a radio detection transmitter.

1. Induction: The transmitter has an internal aerial that will induce a signal onto a line directly below it, without the need for access to the line.

2. Direct Connection: Suitable for use on continuous tracer wire, water and gas distribution systems, a telecom cable, and pipelines at a CP test or other access point.

3. Signal Clamp: The signal clamp safely applies a signal to a pipe or live cable without interupting the supply. It applies a very discriminating signal with reduced coupling to other conductors.
